I love that flights to Europe from Canada are overnight, in theory. Everytime I get settled into my seat I think I am going to fall asleep and wake up bright and early in a new continent. It rarely works out that way for me. This trip was no exception.
I barely slept a wink, but landed in Barcelona in one piece. It was a breeze to get through customs and the health checks for COVID-19. Then it was on the Metro to get to my hotel. Check in was easy and got to my room mid-afternoon to freshen up.
As much as I wanted to hit the ground running, it just wasn’t going to happen. I went and grabbed a quick bite to eat and some essentials for the room (wine, snacks, etc.). One of my friends here texted me to meet for a drink, but put it off until today once I have had a chance to rest a bit.
I crashed early and woke up super early to the full Flower Moon outside my hotel window. For some reason I am full of anxiety, not sure why I am here, not clear on what I want to do today. I think that it’s from the burnout I have been experiencing lately.
As always, when I need to reset I either go for a run or meditate. Both release seratonin and help me chill out and regulate my emotions. In this case, it once again did the trick. Now to start the day.
