The architecture in Barcelona is stunning. But never more so than the works of Gaudí. Casa Batlló is on Passeig de Gràcia right in the heart of Barcelona and is an absolute masterpiece. It was at the top of the places I wanted to visit this time.
The Italian industrialist Josep Batlló granted full creative freedom to Gaudí in redesigning the building. One thing that really stood out for me is how it was inspired by nature. The mushroom-shaped fireplace, ventilation system shaped like fish gills and the roof shaped like a dragon.
I found it worthwile getting the upgrade that included virtual reality tablet and audio guide. It really helped to tell the story of the house.
