Arrived in Sevilla on Sunday

After a quick three-hour bus ride from Faro, I found myself in Sevilla for the next few days. I mean, did you expect me to be this close to Spain and not make an appearance.

Everything was going well until check-in for my AirBNB. You see the guy has fully automated the condo and the process is supposed to be quite simple. You buzz the electric doorbell outside, he lets you in and everything is great. Except — his internet was out.

No problem, he rang his neighbour who let me drop my suitcase off in front of the unit. His brother was going to come by in a couple of hours and let me in. All good, I headed to one of my favourite restaurants in Sevilla grab a seat and started ordering. The food at Ojalá was as good as I remembered.

With a full belly I walked around a bit, checking out the sights of the city. Lots was closed because it was Sunday. This country is still rather Catholic in its ways. Even the stores in the tourist area were closed.

So I meet the brother at the agreed time – he doesn’t have the right key. Okay, nothing to lose my mind over. I spoke to the host again, he was headed back to the city and was going to meet me in another hour or so to let me in. Which thankfully he did. It was really hot in Sevilla yesterday and I needed a shower.

I am all settled in now, still no internet – and the cell reception is really bad in the apartment. All good, I am able to post this hotspotting with my phone. It’s not quite dial up modem slow, but not far from it.

More to come from today’s adventures.
