A Run Through the Ria Formosa Natural Park on the Ludo Trail

One of the must haves for me in a city to retire in is being close to the water and nature – something that Faro has. Today I ran on the Ria Formosa Natural Park on the Ludo trail which starts close to the Faro airport.

It was really beautiful going through the estuary, seeing some birds, sadly not too many. I did manage to catch sight of a few flamingos (the last two photos in the Instragram feed below). The best of all, the trails were really smooth to run on and there were no hills like in Lisbon. (Who needs to run in Lisbon when you are on a natural stair master all day.)

Plane heading to Faro Airport

One of the crazy things is the trail is right next to the flight path to land at Faro airport. Given how busy it is there in the morning, I’m not surprised the birds relocated.

At the Forum Algarve

After a rest and some lunch I headed to the Forum Algarve, the outdoor shopping centre in Faro. I really like this mall since it has all my favourite European brands and some that I have never heard of but that have great clothes. It even has a massive grocery store in it. This is one of the neighbourhoods that I am considering.

So far this trip, Faro has a bit of a lead.
