Like many people during COVID-19, a friend of mine who lives in Barcelona left his job and started a new career in tourism. One day on FaceBook I saw a post of his with this picture of the umbrellas and I asked him where it was from.
It turns out that it was Poble Espanyol in Barcelona. An open air architectural museum that was originally created to showcase the the architectural and cultural essence of Spain to impress visitors to the Barcelona International Exhibition of 1929.
Instead of tearing it down, it’s been well maintained with shops and artisans and also has an immersive experince about all the different festivals across the country.
They have even taken things a bit further and are holding events and concerts in the main square in the evenings. It’s really worth checking out.
